Tell us what you want built.

Or what is already broken. Both are a reasonable way to start, and the second one is more common than people expect.

What helps in a first email

None of this is required. It just means the first reply can be useful instead of a list of questions.

  • What it is for. One or two sentences about who uses it and what they are trying to get done.
  • Whether anything exists yet. A half-built app, a spreadsheet, a competitor you like — all useful, none required.
  • When you need it. A real date is more useful than "soon", even if the real date is "no idea".
  • Roughly what you can spend. Not to spend it — to tell you honestly whether the thing you want fits inside it.

If the answer is that you do not need us, we will say so. It costs nothing to tell somebody their problem is a spreadsheet formula, and it is a faster way to be worth calling later.
